Therapist in Boston, MA

Hi, I’m Hannah Brents.

I offer caring and relatable therapy for adults in Boston and throughout the state of Massachusetts.

Meet Hannah Brents

A therapist in Boston

Hi, my name is Hannah Brents. I help millennials to older adults struggling with anxiety, complex trauma and PTSD, and cult recovery in Boston and virtually across Massachusetts. I support people in healing from trauma and getting control of their anxiety so that they can learn how to like who they are. My goal is to help you feel calm in the chaos, make peace with your past, and learn how to feel happy in your life.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who has worked with millennials and older adults for most of my career. I have helped people overcome many challenges to their mental health and general happiness. I am passionate about helping my clients learn how to challenge negative thoughts that keep them stuck and identify positive coping skills to improve their overall wellbeing.

Contact me today if you are ready to heal from your past and live a life you love. You don’t have to do it alone.

Sometimes the anxiety of daily life is so overwhelming that people may need guidance to get their life back on track.

You may wonder, “am I broken?” and struggle to feel deserving of love. You may be single and want a relationship or be in an unsatisfying relationship but find it challenging to make the changes you want. You may feel like they are a professional powerhouse, but the other areas of their lives don’t measure up. If this sounds like you, you are in the right place. Many people struggle to balance high professional success with life circumstances, relationships, and mental health. You deserve support from a therapist. I am now taking Boston and Massachusetts based residents today.

My approach to therapy

My clients are high achievers. They know how to get things done and are happiest when they have a list they can check off. This is how they’ve attempted to tackle the obstacles to their mental health – by crossing it off a checklist – but find the list grows longer, and it’s hard to identify what they’re really struggling with. They try to compartmentalize the trauma, but the anxiety that comes after is too much to handle. They want to sleep deeply at night without waking, have intimacy in their relationships, and feel a deep connection to themselves and the divine but aren’t sure how.

That’s where I can help. We will work together to identify negative thoughts that keep you stuck and prevent you from healing. I will also teach you ways to handle big emotions and resolve conflict in your relationships.

My goal is to provide a safe space where you can bring to light what has been hidden. Clients appreciate my interactive and engaging style and say it helps them feel more comfortable in our relationship. If you are experiencing complex trauma and PTSD, religious anxiety, leaving a cult, or low self-esteem, know that you don’t have to do it alone! It is important to believe that things can and will get better. Through our work together, you will come to realize the strength you’ve had all along and be able to use it for your good.

Why do people go to therapy?

There is no one answer to this. Each person’s story is unique and the reasons they may seek therapy are as varied as they are.

Clients may look for therapists in Boston, MA when they are feeling unsatisfied in their career or relationships, lacking friends or community, and when figuring out how to rediscover yourself. Many times people seek therapy after difficult life transitions or a traumatic event. Some of these events could involve break ups, leaving a cult and recovering, or becoming an empty nester. It’s in difficult life transitions like these that you could benefit from the support of an experienced therapist like me.

Mental health issues are another reason why clients search for Boston therapists. Issues like anxiety, complex PTSD, religious trauma and cult recovery can be treated effectively with the guidance of a therapist specializing in trauma. If you are ready today to begin therapy and start your healing journey, don’t hesitate to schedule an initial consultation today.
